Ok, anyone who doesn’t think Liam Neeson is a total badass is off their rocker. Staring as Bryan Mills in Taken, I believe he could kick anyones ass. He did a great job with the choreography as well as the acting. Too bad they couldn’t have found a better person than Maggie Grace to play Kim, not only is she a shitty actor but she runs like a retarded giraffe. If you have the option to watch the directors cut, thats where the money is. The scene where he tortures the dude with electricity to his chair is replaced with stabbing nails into the top of his thighs and electrocuting him through those! The speech to the capturers over the phone is possibly the greatest piece of writing in Hollywood. My favorite scene is when he is getting everyone in the room to say something so he can find whose voice was on the phone and the way he engaged everyone in a response was so clever, followed by what was of course filled with tons of ass kickery. I read they are making another one, how dumb do you have to be to get kidnapped and sold into the sex slavery twice? Doesn’t matter, if Liam is in pursuit, I’ll be first in line at the theater.

I can do nothing for you son
True Grit was such a well done movie, I know the original is before my time but I feel as if I must watch it for a basis of comparison. If The Duke was then what Jeff Bridges is today, I am sure it will be a good movie. To me what made this movie as great as it was would be the writing and the casting. The Coen brothers far exceeded my expectation even though I am a huge fan of No Country for Old Men and The Big Lebowski. The witty back and forth banter between characters as well as the choice of wording left me feeling nothing short of entertained and amazed. At first I didn’t feel Matt Damon was appropriate to play Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, but that he is such a good actor he managed to perfect the character and do a great job. I have always loved Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin, but the real acknowledgement goes to Hailee Steinfeld as little Mattie Ross. The makers of this movie struck gold when they found her as she stole the spotlight. Usually I do not care for younger actors but she earned her place in Hollywood and with her talent she deserves to have a flourishing career.

YOU SOUND LIKE YOU’RE FROM LONDON!
I have had the privilege to watch The King’s Speech more than once now, and it only continues to get better. The performances given by Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter are flawless. Not only is the story more than interesting and touching but the attention to detail is amazing. Everyone involved did their jobs with the highest level of professionalism. Everything from the costume to the set decoration to the color the movie was shot in puts you in that time, and because of the amazing performances by everyone involved, you aren't just an audience member to a movie, you are involved and emotionally invested in the characters. The fact that the movie is based on a true story is icing on the cake. You can watch it over and over again and you will pick up dialogue you missed and it only supports your outlook on the talented writing. The King’s Speech deserves all 4 Oscars, 62 wins and 87 nominations. These actors have made me realize that their craft is a beautiful art that they have sculpted into perfection. So few movies are done with this magnitude of excellence, 10 stars from me, and that isn’t easy to do.

Going out, Adele's style
Last night at Adele’s I ordered a Charlie’s Chubby Chuck Burger, pan fried ground chuck with grilled onions, chillies, pork belly, avocado, and melted sharp cheddar cheese. Holy crap did my taste buds go for a ride. The burger, cooked to a perfect medium rare, fell apart like butter in my mouth, but the real home run hitter for me was the pork belly, imagine not quite ham, not quite bacon, but somewhere in between cut in quarter inch slices striped across your burger, just thinking about it today makes my mouth water. The combination of these foods put together between a toasted bun washed down with a glass of merlot made for a wonderful evening. My wife ordered the always pleasing Ahi Tartare, finely chopped ahi marinated with sesame oil, ponzu sauce, avocados, and scallions served with pickled seaweed. Served with toasted and buttered ciabatta wedges and washed down with a chocolate martini, a combination ordered frequently by her, but I guess if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Of course I was lucky enough that she saved me a bite. My quest continues to find a plate of food that Charlie Abowd makes that I don’t like, I think ill be searching for a while.

X-Men First Class is better than you
I just saw X-men First Class and wow, great movie. The first X-men will always be the best because it has that surprise factor, where you see what it’s all about and are introduced to the characters. The second one was very well done and a great time, the third one was a joke, and the wolverine movie was pretty good but had the potential to be SO much better. I would say First Class was probably about as good as the second one. It was an amazing story, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender made that movie what it was, they could not have casted two better people for that roll. What I didn’t like was some of the mutants were kinda lame, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore sucked, she shouldn’t be allowed in movies just because of who her daddy is. Alex Goinzalez as Riptide was kinda stupid, his only move was his little tornado hands, and he just posed during his screen time, at least his didn’t really talk, that’s a plus! My biggest complaint, this would have given this movie another star in my book, is if they spent more time developing the relationship between Charles and Eric. I can go on and on but I fear I will bore, I love a good movie debate, please comment or argue with my point of view!

pull your head out and smell the food!
What’s up with the poor excuse for restaurants in this town (Carson City)? I’m so sick of this crappy microwave Applebee’s Firkin n Fox bull shit. Play-Doh tastes better than the crap they're serving. And what’s worse is people keep going back, that’s whats wrong with people, they rate their food in quantity. Nothing bugs me more than when one of my dumb ass friends says “you have to go to China Buffet” its like, do you even have taste buds? The same goes for sushi, this poor excuse for Americanized sushi drowning in sauces, with crappy rice falling apart, and having to finish all your rice or they get pissed. F all you can eat sushi, I feel like I need to over stuff myself to get my moneys worth or if I order A la carte it costs more and I can only eat 4 pieces before I break the bank. Everyone is too busy running their restaurants like a business and not like a chef or food enthusiast. What happened to people who care about good food, alls that’s left is obese America worried about receiving portions that would kill a buffalo. Now that I have complained, perhaps ill throw in some blogs about the few restaurants in town that still seem to care about serving quality food.
